I had to limit the topic title, but would be happy to include Austrian, Czech, or any other nationality not Italian or French.
I'm curious if any fairly noted concert violinists successfully and contentedly use old noted instruments from such countries, these days, as their primary instruments. (Edited) Names like Widhalm, Geissenhof, Spidlen, and Nemessanyi, and of course Stainer, come to mind as candidates.
